Additional Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me Information

An iconic figure of the 1960s and ’70s, Pattie Boyd breaks a forty-year silence in Wonderful Tonight, and tells the story of how she found herself bound to two of the most addictive, promiscuous musical geniuses of the twentieth century and became the most famous muse in the history of rock and roll.

She met the Beatles in 1964 when she was cast as a schoolgirl in A Hard Day’s Night. Ten days later a smitten George Harrison proposed. For twenty-year-old Pattie Boyd, it was the beginning of an unimaginably rich and complex life as she was welcomed into the Beatles inner circle—a circle that included Mick Jagger, Ron Wood, Jeff Beck, and a veritable who’s who of rock musicians. She describes the dynamics of the group, the friendships, the tensions, the musicmaking, and the weird and wonderful memories she has of Paul and Linda, Cynthia and John, Ringo and Maureen, and especially the years with her husband, George.

It was a sweet, turbulent life, but one that would take an unexpected turn, starting with a simple note that began “dearest l.”

I read it quickly and assumed that it was from some weirdo; I did get fan mail from time to time.... I thought no more about it until that evening when the phone rang. It was Eric [Clapton]. “Did you get my letter?”... And then the penny dropped. “Was that from you?” I said....It was the most passionate letter anyone had ever written me.

For the first time Pattie Boyd, former wife of both George Harrison and Eric Clapton, a high-profile model whose face epitomized the swinging London scene of the 1960s, a woman who inspired Harrison’s song “Something” and Clapton’s anthem “Layla,” has decided to write a book that is rich and raw, funny and heartbreaking—and totally honest and open and breathtaking. Here is the truth, here is what happened, here is the story you’ve been waiting for.

From the Hardcover edition.

What Customers Say About Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me:

Some parts will disappoint you, especially if you are a fan of the famous person she is telling about, and especially fans of Eric Clapton. This book is so interesting and informative. Pattie wrote this book over 40 years later, after much urging. It takes us around the world, and shows us what life was like living with rock stars, and being surrounded by rock stars as friends.Pattie, in her own right, lived a very care-free lifestyle with her then boyfriend/husbands George then Eric. You will discover some very shocking information too, that will take your breath away, within the Beatle family. Though by the time she left George for him, Eric changed into a difficult, uncontrollable man. He wrote a lovely song-Ballard for her years later.

She explains that he had always been very dependent on those around him. So it was a difficult situation when Eric fell in love with Pattie and was determined to take her from George. She shares with us the turbulent marriage they had, due to Eric's substance abuse problems. She hides nothing and I am grateful to her for sharing so much private knowledge with the rest of us.

Pattie Boyd Harrison Clapton Boyd writes this tell-all book about her life growing up with George Harrison, the Beatles, their girlfriends, wives, and Eric Clapton. She recalls going with George and the Beatle family to Rishikesh, India to learn mantras and meditation from their new spiritual advisor, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Pattie goes into great details when telling us about all of the many trips, tours, groupings, parties and unpleasantries, such as infidelity, quite openly. You will learn a lot about the Beatles and their girlfriends and wives. Yes, it surely is a tell-all book. Pattie and George had met and fell into lust/love first, on the set of the Beatle movie "A Hard Day's Night". And because of all this remembered information, the book will not bore you.I would suggest to anyone who is interested in she as a person, or is interested in learning about the women of the Beatles, to read her book. I'd say that she had an easier marriage with George than with Eric, though both were very hurtful at times, in their own ways. When Pattie was married to George, he and Eric were the best of friends. Though with her high spirited charm and personality, she wrote details as though she was living them in the moment.

Eventually, the marriage was doomed to self-destruct, and it did. She was taken by George Harrison's good looks, as he was of hers. She recalls so many intimate situations as if they had just happened to her. I wish Pattie Boyd the best of luck with this book, and with the rest of her free spirited life.

Pattie Boyd is a survivor and her strength is inspiring for those who can relate to her story. Her life is a product of the sixties- the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Pattie's life is as colorful as the fashions she once wore for designers and photographers. Her childhood was a mixture of silent heartbreak from a broken home, to the adventure and mysticism of living in a foreign land with the vast, star-filled sky as her ceiling.

This book is a must read for all fans of the 60s and the fashion, the Beatles, rock n roll, etc. It is an enchanting estate full of character and curiosity- created by Sir Frankie Crisp- which she and George fell in love with and decided to restore.

Pattie experienced the beginnings of the 60s pop culture breakthrough in London, she went on holidays with George and the Beatles, she has endearing stories of the Beatles before the business and the world started to harden their persona, and she was there as they grew apart. One of my favorite parts was reading about Friar Park, which she discovered looking for homes for sale.

Pattie has faced harsh realities in her marriages and she has experienced the good and the bad of the glamorous life. I will read this book again.

I've always been a Pattie Boyd fan. This book was insightful and enjoyable from start-to-finish. I was born in the eighties so the sixties were something I could only imagine, but this book was interesting because it brought you to the height of all the action and the midst of the excitement, while telling her own personal account of how it affected her. It's clear that Pattie is not a "writer" per se but she does well and makes for a compelling story with some historical value as well.

although i enjoyed it, i never really felt i was shown any real insight into the personal moments of george and pattie or eric and pattie. i have to agree with the reviewer tracy l. - this booked lacked soul and emotion. she spent way too much time explaining how she decorated friar park than she did about her relationships and feelings. made me appreciate cynthia lennon's book "john" much more; at least i finished that book feeling like i'd been given a glimpse into john lennon's private world.

Every other 1 star review pretty much sums up what I thought. I just want to add that I'm glad George was with Olivia when he was attacked. Olivia beat the man with a fire poker, Pattie would've been complaining that the man wasn't paying attention to her.
